…And He Said, “Let There Be Laughter”…

June 4, 2012

“Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it.”
― Helen Keller

How do you overcome the suffering?

Leaning on a friend, spouse, or family member? Do you drink from the whiskey bottle? Exercise, faith, meditation? We all have something we use to overcome the suffering of this world.

God gives us laughter. Laughter frees something on the inside, it is like a revival for our soul. I’ve heard it said before that, “laughter is carbonated holiness”.

Nice, I like that. Carbonated holiness. it has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?

I find that holiness at times, bubbling up and out of my mouth, it feels so good. Like that first sip of a soda pop, tickling as it slides down the back of your throat. The times of my carbonated holiness that I cherish the most are when I’m with my kids. Lazy Mornings when we have no hustle and no bustle, when we can lie around in bed and laugh. Laugh at whatever silliness we witness from each-other or from a program on TV. It’s those times the suffering disappears.

It may not be completely overcome, but it becomes less in that moment.

Job 8:21- He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.
